Need help! First trip to DW. We're bringing DS-8 prior to a wk conference. Staying@Polynesian. Room booked through conf. We have 3 full days. Arrive late 11/8. Mickeys Very Merry Christmas on 11/9 for sure. Budget is concern. Need itinerary help. Thx!

    Dana,

So smart to take advantage of a conference to get a trip to Walt Disney World out of it. Done it many times myself!

So with three full days, presumably with the 9th being the first day, here is what I would do.

November 9 - Magic Kingdom (all day, including the MVMCP)
    November 10 - Hollywood Studios
November 11 - Magic Kingdom or Epcot

    • Don't bother with a park hopper option on your tickets. That means a savings of around $150. Sure, you won't get to all four parks, but since it is a first trip, you will have a lot to do at all of the parks, so why spend time moving from one to another? That just takes time away from the fun. You can see that fourth park on your NEXT visit!
    • Focus on the Magic Kingdom. Since it is the marquee park, it has more of interest for your son, and it is an easy monorail ride away from your resort!
    • I have you visiting the Magic Kingdom, then Hollywood Studios, which I think has the most to offer for your son of the other three parks. It will be fun for you too.
    • On that third day I have you EITHER at Epcot or the Magic Kingdom. You will know after day 1 if you want to re-visit the Magic Kingdom, or try something new. If you opt for Epcot, you get a great fireworks show at the end of your trip (IllumiNations).
Now as for your budget, the real consideration is dining. That is where costs can skyrocket. To keep your costs down, consider having breakfast in your room. Bring cereal bars and get fresh fruit and milk from the resort store. And know that Captain Cooks in the Polynesian can offer some good counter service dining at a more affordable rate. Don't worry about scheduling too many expensive table service meals. They are fun, but there are many other affordable (and equally fun) alternatives. Write me back with cuisine preferences and I can make some suggestions!

    Have a magical vacation!
