What do we need to bring every day at the park? Like rain ponchoes, hippoches, water bottles. I need to know. We are going September 16-22 is the hallowen party started at that time. My son is 11 but he Autisum and he doesn't do scarey things very well.

Hi, Katie!  I used to be one of those moms that packed nearly everything but the kitchen sink, and when other park guests started asking me if I was a sherpa for Expedition Everest, I scaled back.  I'll give you the list of must haves for my family.

    I always have:

    sunscreen
    water
    snacks
ponchos/micro-umbrellas (either/or - I've traveled with both - ponchos are lighter, but harder to re-fold)
    individual powdered drink mixes
    band-aids
    Tylenol
    anti-bacterial
    small pack of baby wipes/Wet-Ones

You may also want to bring something comforting for your son.  I have a very dear friend who has a ten year old autistic son, and she always brings a flannel baby blanket with her for him, as he finds it soothing, even just to hold it when he gets nervous or scared.

As far as Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween party - it really is not so scary.  If you decide to go to the party, you'll find many of the costumes worn by the other children are Disney character costumes, and the trick or treat stations are manned by happy, smiling Cast Members wearing Halloween vests as opposed to a scary costume.  There is a Villains mix and mingle, but you can avoid that simply by checking your time guide and not going to that direction during the event.

The parade is opened up by the Headless Horseman, but my now 11 year old daughter was so mesmerized by the beautiful horse, she was probably nearly nine when she realized the horseman had no head.  During the parade, you'll see all the familiar characters in Halloween costumes, but none of them very scary.  You can simply choose to not go to the party if your concerns are too great.

I hope you have a wonderful vacation!
