Need advice please! Disneyland Hotel (better pool) vs. Grand Californian (closer to everything). Price is only about $200 difference. Which one is better (traveling with a 4-year-old boy)?

    Hey Diana,

This is a really tough question to answer because I really love both resorts for unique reasons and also because they're two totally different properties!  As mom to a five year old, I personally have grown to favor The Grand Californian because of the relaxed atmosphere and close proximity to the parks and Downtown Disney.  Though the Disneyland pools are amazing, my daughter is still too young to fully enjoy all of the immersive features and for the time being, she is completely content with the small water slide at the Redwood Pool area at the Grand.

The theming at the Disneyland Hotel is really great for families with younger children and my daughter really enjoys the fibre optic fireworks displays in the headboards.  That said, she also really loves the optional bunk beds at the Grand too!  It really comes down to personal preference.  If Disney theming in a fun an upbeat atmosphere is what you desire, then go for the Disneyland Hotel.  Don't let the location sway you, as it's located steps from Downtown Disney and the Monorail Station.

If you're like me, and tend to like a laid back, relaxing environment with less in the way of Disney essence, then the Grand would be your pick!  Either way, both resorts are amazing and both have many special features and amenities that you and your son will appreciate!

I'm here if you have any additional questions!
