Hi! Is it necessary to reserve a table for dinner in the MK? Or are there restaurants where you can eat without reservations? We have only now booked for May 1st and can not get any reservations at a suitable time (all too late). Thanks!

Hi, Katja! If you were anything like my husband, you would head to Walt Disney World without any dining reservations in place. He likes to be spontaneous, which is tough when working with my planning personality.

The good thing for us - and for you - is that there are a ton of different dining experiences throughout the Magic Kingdom theme park, and you won't need a reservation for most of them. You can keep checking the online dining reservation system, and you can even check at the podiums at the restaurants once you arrive at the parks to see if there are any available last minute reservations, but you won't go hungry if you can't find a table service dining location.

One of my favorite quick service meals can be had at Columbia Harbor House. With dining options that include a traditional New England lobster roll and grilled salmon, it's more like a real meal than what you would expect at a counter service restaurant.

Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe is another family favorite. The 1/2 rotisserie chicken meal comes complete with mashed potatoes and green beans. It's easily shared by two adults or even two adults and a small child, but there are loads of other options available there as well.

You'll find hot dogs, turkey legs, chicken nuggets, and all the traditional quick service options available. Any of those restaurants are just walk in.

    Have a great vacation!
