Is it necessary to purchase a magic band if we are only going to theme parks for 2 days?

Hey there, hi there, ho there, Cristy! It's been a while since you've stopped by to see us here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I'm so happy you've come to visit again!

Two days at the Walt Disney World Resort sounds practically perfect! Even short visits can be so much fun. My family lives an hour's drive away, so we take lots of day trips, and I just love every precious minute!

Cristy, if you're staying in a Walt Disney World Resort hotel, you'll get complimentary MagicBands for everyone on your reservation. They're useful for Theme Park admission and FastPass+ entry, of course, but Resort hotel Guests can also use MagicBands for things like paying for purchases and unlocking their hotel room door.

If you're staying offsite, MagicBands are fun, but not really needed. The admission card you receive when you buy your tickets takes care of your Park admission and FastPass+ access, and you can even scan it for your Disney PhotoPass photos. You can certainly buy MagicBands for fun (and they come in lots of designs that make great souvenirs of your trip!), but they are not necessary.

I hope this helps you plan an amazing visit to Walt Disney World, Cristy. Please come see us again soon!

    Keep Disney Dreaming,

Meet the Panelist: Kathy, Florida

I've lived my whole life just an hour's drive from Walt Disney World, so I've been a regular visitor for as long as I can remember. Even after all these years and so many visits, I love that there's still so much to discover! Now that I'm a mom myself, seeing my favorite place through my son's eyes has given me a whole new perspective that I enjoy sharing with other parents of young children. Learn More About Kathy
