What are the must-sees in October at WDW for 4 & 6 yr old girls? Any tips on the Mickey-Not-So Scary Halloween? Thank you.

    Hi Erika,

October is one of my favorite times of year to visit Walt Disney World. The weather is starting to cool off, and because most children are back in school, the crowds are lower.

Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is so much fun! For that day, I recommend that you take it easy during the day. The party goes late into the night, and your girls may need some rest during the day so that they have the energy to have as much fun as possible at the party. Definitely have them dress up, and you can dress up too. My whole family went last year dressed as fairies - yes, my husband too! The photo of us with Tinker Bell will be treasured forever. I also recommend that you take advantage of the unique offerings at the party, such as the special shows. While the rides will be open and have shorter lines, the special shows cannot be seen at any other time. Finally, if you are in the Magic Kingdom a day or two before you go to the party, stop at Guest Relations to ask for a brochure on the party. This way you can start to plan what you will do at what time at the party.

Another special event during October is the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival. We enjoy strolling around World Showcase at Epcot and stopping to purchase a bite to eat from many of the different kiosks representing the cuisines of countries around the world. Our daughter will try the food, and has found some new favorites there. In recent years, they have offered a little book available at any of the kiosks, free of charge, which lists the countries and the foods that you can sample. At each country, you can get the book stamped with a unique stamp. Our daughter really enjoys doing that.

Have a wonderful time at Walt Disney World in October, Erika! Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions.
