I have MS. Our cruise is in January 2016. I am concerned about heat endurance on the ship as well as in port, as well as being able to see well (i.e reading menus). Do you have any tips or tricks I can do to help make this smooth sailing?

    Hi, Kyss!

The summer seems to be flying by. Before you know it, you'll be sailing away on your Disney Cruise Line vacation! Thank you for using the Disney Parks Moms Panel as a planning resource - we're here to make sure your cruise is as magical as possible for you and your family.

You didn't mention which port you'll be departing from, but I'll assume Port Canaveral. The average temps for that time of year range from mid-50s to high 60s at the port. In the Bahamas, the average temps are mid 60s to high 70s, and high 60s to low 80s in the Caribbean. If you're concerned about heat endurance on the ship, there are plenty of shady spots to relax on deck. Comfortable lounge chairs provide lovely spots with ocean views. Portions of the pool deck are covered, and might be the best choice if you need to avoid the sun.

One of the best features of a Disney Cruise is the incredible serving team you'll have with you in the Main Dining venues. Each night, you'll rotate through the three themed restaurants, and your servers will rotate with you. When you arrive at your table each evening, your head server will go over the menu offerings with you, highlighting special dishes and his/her recommendations. Sometimes I don't even need to read over the menu because the descriptions of the dishes have my mind made up already! Feel free to let your server know if you have trouble reading the menus, and they will be happy to help in any way.

If you have specific concerns regarding your MS, I encourage you to contact DCL's Special Services Team before you travel. They can answer any questions you may have about your particular needs. The team is in place to give guests peace of mind that every aspect of their vacation will go smoothly! You can reach the Special Services Team by calling (407) 566-3602, or you can email them at SpecialServices@disneycruise.com.

I hope this helps! Have a great day! - Diane W.
