Hello MP, Traveling in January- how should we pack? Will we need jackets or shorts? Both?

    Hi Kathryn!

Thanks for dropping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel. The average high for Orlando in January is 70.7 degrees and the average low is 49.8 degrees. It is good to know, however, that the weather at Walt Disney World is very unpredictable. There have actually been times my family has visited in the winter months and had warm temperatures and times we have visited in the late summer and had cool temperatures. It's hard to know for sure. I would definitely recommend that you watch the weather forecast as your arrival date is approaching. And I would also suggest that you bring jackets and plan to wear long pants--if you have room you could pack one pair of shorts if you really want to. I have never been there in January, though, when we haven't needed something to keep us warm at least in the evenings. It wouldn't be a bad idea to pack a rain poncho/jacket of some kind, as well. You can find them for a good price in the camping department at a store in your town before you come. I can't tell you how many times we have been caught in the rain and have had to buy a bundle of them inside the Disney Parks for a much higher price.

I'm so excited for your upcoming trip. January will be here before you know it! Take time before you go to book Advanced Dining Reservations, make your FastPass+ choices and link these things (and MORE!) to your MagicBands in your My Disney Experience account . This will help you make the very most of every single magical moment at Walt Disney World!

Let us know if we can do anything else to help you. Have a wonderful day!
