On Mousesavers I read that day parking at Ft. Wilderness is free. My parents are staying there, but we are staying off-site. Can we park there for the day and ride the boat over to the parks with them?

    Jessica,

Fort Wilderness does have visitor parking, and it is free for short visits, but it isn't designed to handle visitors who want to park there for the full day.

Although I have stayed at Ft. Wilderness, and am familiar with their parking processes, to make sure that I give you correct advice I also followed-up with guest services.  They mentioned that if you are visiting another guest at Ft. Wilderness you will be given a short-term pass (2-3 hours) to park in the visitor lot.  There is no charge for this pass, but it isn't supposed to be used for the full day.  They do have security people that check these passes, and you would be taking a risk if you tried to park for the full day.

Rules do change, and there may be exceptions when things are lighter (it can't hurt to ask), but you should at least be aware that it is likely that parking for free all day at Ft. Wilderness won't be a possibility.

So, it seems like you should instead plan to park at the Magic Kingdom (not free), and then meet your parents over there.

    Hope that helps.
