My mother-in-law is looking to plan a family vacation for 2019. My husband and I have some reservations about going since our son will be 5 months old (mainly due to germs/lots of people). Any advice on bringing a 5 month old?

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Kristi! That’s a great question and I’m so happy you’ve sent it to us!

I know exactly where you’re coming from because my youngest daughter’s first visit to the Walt Disney World Resort was when she was four months old. I was concerned when my husband and I decided to visit for the same reasons you are, but we ended up having such a fun time! I used a baby carrier for the first year and as long my daughter was close to me, it made no difference whether we were taking a walk around the block in our neighborhood or enjoying a stroll around Epcot! She was happy as a clam!

My best advice for anyone bringing a baby with them to the parks is, pace yourself. If you’d like to visit a theme park, it’s ok to take a break mid-day for the baby’s nap and head back to your hotel. You can always go back to the theme parks later. You can also use Baby Care Centers at any of the theme parks. They provide a comfortable, air-conditioned place to nurse, feed, or change the baby. You can also pick up any items you may have forgotten to pack like diaper cream or spare baby bottles.

Kristi, Disney Resort hotel guests can request pack ‘n play cribs for their rooms at no extra charge. These playpens come with a fitted sheet, all you have to do is bring your son’s favorite blanket! As you consider this spring time visit, take a look at the Planning for Preschool Kids & Little Ones page, there are lots of attractions you can enjoy with your baby.

I hope this information is helpful to you! Please feel free to come back with any other questions. Helping you figure out all the details for your next magical stay is our pleasure!
