Mother traveling with childern without dads'-what documentation does she need to have/ carry along other then passports?

    Hi Denise,

I am a single parent and travel alone with my daughter all the time and sometimes I am asked for documentation and sometimes I am not asked at all.  It is best to be prepared and if you are asked, then they will require a notarized letter from the parent of the child (who is not travelling with them).  This letter basically states that the parent of the child gives the other parent permission to travel with the child alone.  You are best to check with a lawyer or notary public, what they recommend the letter says and make sure it gets notarized.

    Best wishes,
    Brigitta
