Hi Moms! What is the FASTEST way to get from Magic Kingdom to Fort Wilderness at about 5:00 PM (in time for the 6:15 Hoop-de-Doo Review)? Thank you!!

    Hi Lorraine,

The easiest, and fastest, way to get from the Magic Kingdom to Fort Wilderness is to take the water shuttle boat.

The boat picks up at the dock area just outside the Magic Kingdom gates (between the buses and the monorail). There is clear signage indicating which boats go to Fort Wilderness and which go to other locations. If you're confused, ask any cast member in the dock area. The boats come about every 15 minutes and the ride itself will take about 15 minutes. The dock at Fort Wilderness is steps away from Pioneer Hall and the Hoop Dee Doo Revue - about a three minute walk.

This is one situation where taking a taxi or driving would actually be much slower than using Disney's free transportation system. Cabs and cars can only be accessed via the Transportation and Ticket Center. To get there you've have to take the ferry or monorail from the the Magic Kingdom. If you were in a cab or car, you'd have to enter Fort Wilderness from the main parking lot area and then get an internal FW bus to Pioneer Hall.

On a bad day, you're looking at a maximum of about 35 minutes using the boat, but perhaps an hour or more using a car or cab.

Good luck with your planning. Please let us know what else we can do to help.
