Hello Moms, Thanks for your helpful site. Visited WDW years ago & was very organized w/touring plans. Returning week of Christmas w/family member w/Asperger's Syndrome. Will not be able to organize touring plans b/c it upsets them. Suggestions?

    Hi Michelle ~

As a parent of a child with disabilities, I totally understand your concerns. Before you go, keep in mind the week of Christmas will be very crowded. There have also been some big changes at Disney World over the past year. Disney World now has Disney FastPass+ service (FP+). Here are some details of how FP+ currently works. I would go ahead and make FP+ selections. Hopefully you will be able to make some of the reserved times.

Request a Disability Access Service Card (DAS) for your family member by going to Guest Relations at any of the theme parks. Here are some details explaining how the DAS works. I've also included a list of Frequently Asked Questions about the DAS.

Bring any comfort items and head phones or ear plugs to help keep the noise level down. If he or she becomes anxious, remember to relax and remove them from the situation until they calm down. If you see that they've had enough, pack it up and head back to your resort.

Disney is committed to assisting Guests with Cognitive Disabilities. They have put together A Resource for Guests with Cognitive Disabilities including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) (see link shown above) that will give you some information that may help you before and during your trip.

Wishing you minnie magical memories :-) Allison V.
