Hi Moms! Our family (4) will be visiting WDW in Dec '16. We can't decide which hotel(s) would be the best fit for us. Our kids will be 2 and 5 at the time of our visit. Do you have recommendations? I would prefer a moderate or deluxe. Thanks!

Choosing a resort that's dressed for Christmas with proximity to the parks for your two pre-schoolers leads me to recommend the following:

    • The Contemporary: one monorail stop away from Magic Kingdom, you cannot be closer to the park. This will allow you to leave the park after lunch and return to your room for a much-needed (and highly-recommended) rest for both you and your children. The monorail zooms through the lobby which is festooned with a large Mickey head "wreath" and a life-size gingerbread display. You have several options of rooms to find the best price-point.
    • The Boardwalk Inn: If you think you'll be spending time at BOTH Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios, this resort gives you both walking and boat access to these parks, again, so that you can return in the afternoon to rest up for an evening in the parks. Its lobby houses a confectionery holiday display that captivates. Additionally, in the early evening, your family can enjoy magicians and other entertainers around the lights of the Boardwalk. Grab a pizza at the Boardwalk pizza window for an economical dinner beside Crescent Lake.
    • Wilderness Lodge: Considered a semi-deluxe, this resort may fit your pocket book if you are considering a Moderate. The stories-tall Christmas tree nestled by the lodge's equally-impressive fireplace makes the perfect backdrop for a relaxing vacation. It has convenient boat service to the Magic Kingdom and the other deluxe monorail resorts and bus transportation to the other theme parks.
    • Port Orleans Riverside: Although it only provides bus transportation to the parks, that's its only downside, in my opinion. Upgrade to a Royal Room with a view of the Sassagoula River and feel like royalty. Spend the money you save on your room on one of its carriage rides or a memorable Character Dinner. Our family loved its boat to Downtown Disney.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
