Have any of you moms(or dad =) ) experienced the parasailing or horseback riding? Would like to have my husband experience other activities that we may not be able to do back at home. Do you recommend these excursions?

I have done both the horseback riding activity at Fort Wilderness and the parasailing activity at the Contemporary Resort.

I went on the trail ride from Fort Wilderness with my oldest daughter when she had just turned 9. We had a lovely mommy/daughter bonding time there. The horses are very gentle. Though my daughter rides, I don't. I am often intimidated by large horses, but these were so easy that I felt perfectly comfortable the entire time. There was even a special needs child in our group that had a wonderful riding experience. Our guide made a point of describing many of the native plants and animals we saw along the trail, and made sure that everyone in the group was fine. If you are looking for a slow. low-key riding experience, this is ideal. When you make your reservation, they will tell you to wear long pants for this experience. You should remember to do this, as I did see one person wearing shorts turned away.

I went parasailing with my entire family this past Thanksgiving. I have say that while my husband and kids were dying to parasail, I was quite fearful initially. (Are you getting the picture that I can be a bit of a nervous Nellie?) As soon as I got up in the sky, any fear I ever had instantly dissipated. Parasailing was AWESOME. My family of five went up in three shifts: first my hubby solo, then two of my daughters together, then my third daughter with me. The experience was both exhilarating and relaxing. It is surprisingly peaceful and quiet up in the air and you can see for MILES. I was glad that I went on a tandem trip because my daughter and I had such a nice time together chatting about all the cool things we could see. I would go parasailing again in a heartbeat.
