Hi, My mom has Multiple Myeloma, a cancer that affects her bones. We planned our trip before knowing that, and im very worried about her standing in lines for a long time. Does Disney has any special treatment for her case? Best Regards.

    Hi Rafaella,

Thank you for taking the time to inquire on your mother's behalf. First and foremost, you should receive clearance from your Doctor and ask if there are any special precautions your mother should take during her travel. As a Physical Therapist and a certified Disney nut, I am proud to tell you that Walt Disney World is highly accessible for all Guests, even those who have mobility restrictions. Should your mother require the use of a wheelchair during her travels you will find all Resort hotels, transportation systems, and theme parks fully accessible.

For Guests who have limited endurance I highly recommend renting (or bringing) a wheelchair or scooter for their vacation. Even Guests who may need it for only part of the time, having the ability to rest when needed can not only help them enjoy their vacation more fully it allows them the freedom to still participate with the family when they are fatigued. Here is a link which outlines Disney Wheelchair and Scooter Rental within the theme parks as well as outside the theme parks from Disney Feature Providers.

Some Guests may also require the use of a Disability Access Service Card (DAS). To inquire about your mother you should visit Guest Relations at the entrance to any of the theme parks. Please note that if your mother needs to use a wheelchair this will not automatically mean she also needs a DAS card.  However to discuss the specifics of your mother's condition you may stop by Guest Relations with her and they will be able to make a determination and give advice.

    Blessings,
