I am a "Mom on loan". I am taking my niece & step-sister on DCL. How has your experience been with adding a Disney day or two been prior to sailing? Too much or good idea? They love seeing and doing everything! Is it too crowded to enjoy

    Hi Jennifer,

Sounds like you're the best aunt/step-sister around!  Personally, I love adding a few days at the parks to our cruise vacations - but I prefer to do them after the cruise.  The cruise is really worth making the focal point of your vacation, then the cherry-on-top will be a few days in the theme parks.  If you run ragged a few days prior to your cruise, you may be tired and miss on some of the fun the cruise has to offer.

So my ideal cruise/parks vacation is flying in to Orlando the evening before the cruise and staying at the airport hotel that night.  In the morning you are refreshed and ready to head to the port (there is transfer service available through Disney Cruise Line, simply call (800) 951-3532 to add it to your reservation).  After the cruise you can take the Disney transfer back to a Disney Resort, and you could be playing in the parks by lunch time!

You didn't mention when you plan on traveling, so I can't attest to what the crowds may be like - but anything over a school break or holiday can be pretty busy!

    I hope this helps!
