Hi, My mom and I are hoping to surprise my daughters for their 6th birthday with a trip to Disney, their birthday is in January. Suggestions on keeping it as inexpensive as possible? When will January specials/prices be released? Cheap Airfare? Thanks!

    Hello, Kristen!

What a wonderful idea for a surprise 6th birthday celebration in Walt Disney World for your little princesses! Wow! Be sure to get their reaction on video, as it's something you'll want to see again and again, too!

January is a great month to travel to WDW as well, as kids head back to school and parks clear out as well. Price rates for January should be coming out in the very near future, so keep checking back on Walt Disney World.com for those packages as soon as they are available.

We always eat breakfast in our room or on the go. We pack granola bars, cereal bars and even juice boxes for early mornings on the go. We also always purchase the Dining Plan, so that there are no surprises when it comes to our food costs. You can also bring food into the parks, so we've shipped, packed or purchased containers of peanut butter and jelly, then picked up bread from the store at our resort for easy morning sandwiches as well as quick lunches. Zipper-closing plastic bags help with the transport, too!

Value Resorts are great for families on a budget, and you can even price out a Family Suite which includes a mini-kitchen, also saving you a lot of money (and convenience!) by enabling you prepare light meals right in your room. Look for Family Suites at Disney's All-Star Music as well as the new Disney's Art of Animation Resort and enter your travel dates to compare costs.

Another tip might be to skip Park Hopping. If you plan carefully, you won't need to go from one park to another on the same day, and this will save you $, too!

Send more questions as you uncover more information; I'd love to help you plan this spectacular birthday celebration!
