My mom was just diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and we decided to take a WDW trip while she’s still able. Due to short notice we couldn’t get a hotel room on site, any other suggestions on how to make this memorable for her and my 5 year old son? Thank you!

Hi Elizabeth! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

I am so very sorry to hear about your mom's recent diagnosis. I cannot imagine how difficult this is, but I am happy that you were able to make this upcoming vacation happen! What special memories you will all make together!

Even though you are not staying at a Disney Resort hotel, I still encourage you to purchase Memory Maker for this visit. You will cherish the photos from the trip for many years to come and I think Memory Maker is worth every penny! By purchasing it in advance, you save on the cost and make it even more valuable. There is even a Disney PhotoPass Service Studio in Disney Springs where you can take the perfect family portrait. Speaking of pictures, you may want to check out Disney Fine Art Photography. These picture sessions can take place at a variety of locations, including Disney Resort hotels and the theme parks, and they are absolutely beautiful!

Another fun little surprise would be to arrange to have a cake sent to a Table-Service restaurant that you will be dining at. I have tasted these cakes myself and they are oh, so delicious! Disney Floral & Gifts also has a huge selection of offerings, ranging from snacks to flowers to keepsake items. You'll find items perfect for both your mom and your son!

I hope this helps and offers some ideas that work for your family, Elizabeth! I wish you all the best vacation ever!
