My mom is buying us Disney World tickets for Christmas! We plan on staying at a Disney Hotel but will we get magic bands, or will we have to carry around the cards that she got us?

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Amanda! You will absolutely adore the perks of staying on property like complimentary transportation, Extra Magic Hours and 60 advance FastPass+ reservations! To my family of four, staying on property is an absolute MUST for a magical vacation!

When you make your Walt Disney World Resort Hotel reservation, you’ll be gifted MagicBands for every member of your family staying in the room(s). You’ll be able to personalize them with your names (our family uses nicknames like Daddy, Super R, etc) and even choose colors! They’ll be mailed to your home about a month or so before your vacation and will be linked to your My Disney Experience account. While MagicBands are collectible (I’ve got quite the little collection on a bracelet form!), convenient and cool, I would still recommend carrying your hard ticket cards (which you should link up to your My Disney Experience profiles ASAP to keep everything in check) in your park-going backpack. Occasionally the touch points system can get a little tired and you may need to show your hard tickets to the Cast Members at the entrance. It’s always nice to have a backup!

If there are any more planning questions I can help you with before your magical vacation starts, please let me know. There are so many perks of staying at the various resorts that I can’t list them all here! I’ll be happy to share the magic with you! ~ Lindsey P.
