Hello, This will be mine and my families first time to Walt Disney World. I have been to Disneyland more times than I can count, but how does the fast pass reservations system work at Disney World? Thank you in advance for your time!

    Hi Kristine,

I visited Disneyland Resort with my family earlier this year, and I had forgotten just how different the FastPass systems are between the two coasts. While both systems have their pros and cons, I’ll admit that the planner in me prefers Florida’s system! ;)

The best way to describe Walt Disney World Resort’s system is that it’s all “virtual”: you no longer need paper FastPasses, or to run around like a madwoman in order to secure your selections.

Instead, you can make up to 3 FastPass+ selections per day, all in the same Theme Park, up to 60 days in advance if you’re staying at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel or 30 days in advance if you’re staying “off property”. You make these selections through your My Disney Experience account, and you can plan for yourself and for any number of other people in your party. Then, when it comes time to use one of your FastPass+ selections, simply show up in the attraction’s FastPass+ line, tap your MagicBand or Card to the Mickey “head” and, voilà! You’re good to go!

Once you’ve used up your advance FastPass+ selections, you can then make one at a time at any Theme Park that you choose. You can either do this at a FastPass+ kiosk in the Theme Parks or via the My Disney Experience app on your smartphone. You don't have to actually go to a given attraction in order to secure a FastPass+ selection for it.

Please don’t hesitate to come back and see us if you have any other questions!

    Have a Magical Day,
    Lynne
