My MIL will be with us at WDW in November and using an ECV. Will she be able to use boat transport from/to Wilderness Villas? Is there a place to charge it in our hotel? Do all buses have lifts to accommodate disabled guests?

    Hi Melanie,

I was delighted to find your question on the Moms Panel site this morning!  Did you know that the Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge is my favorite place to stay while visiting Walt Disney World?  You're going to love this rustic, charming resort.

Not all boats departing from the back of Disney's Wilderness Lodge are equipped to handle ECVs.  Therefore, I recommend that you take the bus back and forth to the Magic Kingdom (and to the other theme parks and destinations throughout Walt Disney World). While they may exist, I have not yet encountered a bus that is not equipped to handle ECVs there.  Besides, the bus strip at your resort is much closer to the Villas than the boat dock.  It will be your fastest form of transportation.  (I timed it; it only takes four minutes from the front of Disney's Wilderness Lodge to the bus strip at the Magic Kingdom.  How's that for speedy?)

While staying at the Villas, I noticed that guests often charge their ECVs in the hallway outside their villas.  The villas (particularly if you are staying in a one bedroom villa or larger) have plenty of space for charging inside your accommodations but I can see the appeal of charging the ECV outside your room if you are staying in a deluxe studio.  Check the end of the hallway nearest the main lodge if there is no receptacle outside your studio.

Please don't hesitate to ask any further questions you may have about staying at the Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge.  I would be thrilled to tell you anything you want to know about this truly magical place.

    Best wishes,
    Jill
