Mid August, Is this a good time to visit Disney?? 6 Travelers, 3 adult and 3 kiddos. Celebrating a birthday for 1 child and "No more chemo" for another child. What activities are suggested? Two girls ages 11, and 4 and a boy age 8.

    Hi Elenia,

What a wonderful celebration you will have at Walt Disney World! A birthday for one child is a great celebration, but the "no more chemo" celebration is truly wonderful and amazing. My heart is happy for you and your family.

I have visited Walt Disney World in mid-August with my family. It is quite hot at this time, but you'll be fine as long as you prepare for it. Bring cool clothes of course, and drink plenty of water. I pack a change of clothes for my daughter when we're in the parks. That way, if she wants to cool off by playing in the interactive water features at Magic Kingdom Park or Epcot, or if she gets soaked on Kali River Rapids, she can change and be comfortable afterward. Crowds also start to taper off around the third week in August when many children are heading back to school.

As you start to make reservations for resorts and restaurants, definitely mention to them that you are celebrating. This will be noted on your reservations. Although this does not guarantee special treatment, you may get the occasional cupcake added to your meal! It's also special simply when a server says "happy birthday" or "congratulations" at your meal. Also, be sure to get your kids buttons, available at Guest Relations at the parks. You can get a "Happy Birthday" button and an "I'm celebrating" button. Then you can decide how much or how little you want to share about what you're celebrating. It can be written on the button, or you can leave the button blank to simply say "I'm celebrating." We have worn the "Happy Birthday" and "I'm Celebrating" buttons a couple of times, and I even enjoy the warm fuzzy feeling when other guests wish me a happy birthday or congratulate me!

Again, Elenia, I am so completely overjoyed for your family. I am sure that your Walt Disney World vacation will be a wonderful celebration.  Please let us know if there is anything else we can answer for you to help make this happen!
