Going to Mickeys not so scary Halloween party for the first time. Was wondering what is acceptable for costumes? It’s just my husband and myself going!

    Hi Becky,
I'm so glad you stopped by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question! Welcome!

I've got to confess, I love Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. My family went just a couple of weeks ago at the last minute and we had a spook-tacular time!

Regarding your acceptable costumes question-I've seen a lot of crazy and unique costumes.  Here's the basic rules-no full-length ball gowns or capes, no masks, wings and tutus are allowed.  Do check the link I've provided for more details.

Becky, if you're stuck for ideas, have you ever heard of Disneybounding? It's a style of dress where you wear regular clothes, but you look awfully similar to your favorite Disney character.  For example, for my visit to Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party the other week, I wore a black top, a red skirt with white polka dots and yellow sneakers...kind of like a mouse you might know? I was Disneybounding as Minnie Mouse!  Google and Pinterest are your friends here to give you ideas of how to resemble your favorite characters.

Also since you've never been to this amazing party before, I have a few tips.  First, stop and trick-or-treat, even just a little bit-it's fun!  Cast Members provide a small bag for you at the start of the night, but my family prefers the lightweight drawstring-type backpacks for this activity.  So easy to get on and off, plus your hands are free while you're walking around the park.  Second, if you want to do character meet and greets, do them early.  The lines can be long and if you MUST have a photo with Jack Skellington and Sally, you won't want to waste precious time in line.  Third, don't miss the incredible parade!  Mickey's "Boo-to-You" Halloween Parade has tons of characters dressed up for the special event, plus gravediggers, Hitchhiking Ghosts and more.  Last, arrive early! Your ticket for this special event will let you into Magic Kingdom Park at 4 pm, so take advantage of a few extra hours in the park.

Feel free to come back and see us again with any additional questions.

    Happy HalloWishes,
    Amy S.
