I want to make this the most memorable trip ever need dinning, shows and event suggestions please My kiddos will be 6 a boy and 7 a girl when we arrive Dec 2010? Also what exactly is Downtown DIsney? Is it part of Magic Kingdom or no? Thanks a bunch

Hi, Laura!   It is so fun to be planning a First Visit to Walt Disney World for your kids!  At ages 6 and 7, they will be at fun ages where there will be so much for them to enjoy.

For dining, try a few character dining locations. Try Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary Resort (Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, and pals) and the Crystal Palace (Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore)at the Magic Kingdom.   For quick service, you kids might enjoy Pizza Planet at Hollywood Studios.  To see a complete list of dining locations, go to www.allears.net and click on DINING.  Here you can find restaurants and menus so you can locate some places that fit your family's tastes.

Downtown Disney is a separate location from the 4 main theme parks.   It is a shopping/dining/entertainment destination.   There is no charge to enter Downtown Disney and parking is free if you are driving.  If you are staying on property, bus service is available.    At Downtown Disney, you will find places such as Planet Hollywood, T-REX Cafe, the Lego Store, Cirque du Soleil, Disney Quest, World of Disney Store and much more!   Plan on spending at least half a day here.   One of my favorite activities in Downtown Disney is Characters in Flight, a helium balloon ride that lifts you 400 feet above Village Lake.   My kids did this over the summer and loved it!  Admission is required for certain shows/attractions at Downtown Disney.

Sign up for the e-newsletter from  www.allears.net.  It will keep you posted on all things Disney!  A great book for first time visitors is The Complete Idiot's Guide to Walt Disney World.   You might want to pick this up or another guide book that will give you some great travel tips and ideas for your vacation.   Your kids will enjoy learning about their magical vacation!   Have fun planning!
