    Nabeh from TX Asked

Hello! I am a medically discharged veteran from the U.S. Army with a Purple Heart, I'm trying to see if there are discounts for that, or is it just Active Duty?

Hi, Nabeh!  This is a tough question to answer, as there are different eligibility requirements for the various discounts offered at Walt Disney World.

Let's start with the basics.  If you are medically retired from the military, you qualify for the Armed Forces Salute passes (the current offer is $177 for a four day park hopper pass - subject to black out dates).  Regular retirees and active duty military members are also eligible for this offer, in addition to being eligible to stay at Shades of Green resort.

If you are considered permanently disabled - which will be indicated on your veterans identification card with the letters DAVPRM - you are also eligible for the Armed Forces Salute offer.  These guests are not eligible for stays at the Shades of Green resort.

If you are 100% service connected disabled, but not considered permanently disabled, you may stay at Shades of Green, but you are not eligible for the Armed Forces Salute discounted tickets.  If you are both 100% service connected disabled AND considered permanently disabled, you qualify for both Shades of Green and the Armed Forces salute.

Honorably discharged members of the military who are less than 100% disabled may purchase discounted tickets and register for stays at Shades of Green only in the months of September and January.  You will need your DD-214 for those stays.

I hope that among these discounts, you qualify for something!  Thank you for your dedication and service.  If I can help you with anything else, just let me know!
