In March, Dianne and I are treating our son and 3 grandkids to a week at Disnetworld. My wife has arthritis in her hips. She walks OK but not for an entire day. We have park hopper passes for all, Want my wife to enjoy - Your ideas?

    Hi Jerome,

What a wonderful treat you are giving to your family! You are sure to make countless priceless memories together. Honestly, if your wife has arthritis and walking is difficult for her, I would switch to Base tickets. Park Hoppers are wonderful if you plan on visiting multiple parks in one day and going non-stop. However, there is plenty to see and do in each park and Hopping is not necessary. In fact nine times out of ten, even when I have the opportunity, I still choose to fully immerse myself in one park per day rather than Park Hop. Disney World is very large and the amount of walking you will do in any given day can exhaust even the most physically fit person. I'd hate for your wife to get worn out and feel pressured to keep up with everyone so she doesn't miss out. I recommend switching to Base tickets and simply telling everyone that you are going to soak in the magic that each park has to offer...one day at a time. This would relieve a lot of stress from your wife and if she wants to just take a break on a bench, she can do that for a bit without feeling like she has to constantly keep going to keep up. I also wanted to mention that wheelchairs are available for your convenience.

In addition, if your wife's arthritis is really acting up, she can stop by Guest Relations to obtain a "Guest Assistance Card". She'll need to explain her condition to them, but this card can help minimize the amount of time that she will spend standing in line. The only thing is, the card is good for her and up to 5 guests, so it likely won't cover all of you.

Hope this helps and please don't hesitate to let me know if I can assist you further. Have a magical vacation,

    Kaylene
