Hi! We are making our first trip to WDW in early April. We plan to use DME to return to the airport, but our flight is really early - 6:45 am! Is that a problem? Anything else we should consider about such an early departure?

Hi Robin! The Disney Magical Express is a great service for the resort guests. However, when you have an early morning flight as you do your pick up will be three hours before making it at 3:45am! That will be pretty hard on children so you will have to make a decision whether to use it or get a private car that could likely save you at least an hour. You also will have to take your own luggage with you since you must check it in at the resort stations three hours or more and they don't open until about 4:30/5am.

If you have no other option but to take this early morning flight then you have some decisions to make. You can take the bus at 3:45am, get a private car to get to the airport but you will still need to leave the resort no later then 4:45/5 since you have baggage to check, or get a one night room at a hotel close to the airport. The Hyatt is right in the facility and very convenient when you are leaving early.

I have taken an early morning flight from Orlando and was shocked at how long the security lines were at the crack of dawn. You have to estimate time to get through those as well so don't cut it too close especially when traveling with children.
