We are making our first trip to Disney with our 5 and 4 year old over the week after Easter. Apparently since it is spring break it may prove to be extremely crowded while we are there. Any advice on getting the most out of our trip despite the crowds.

Hi Amy! I think Easter has come upon all of us with surprise this year with it being late in March. Many schools will have their spring breaks dependent on the Easter holiday so the week before and the week after can find the parks and resorts crowded.

With some careful planning you can still have a great time. I just made some dining reservations a couple of days ago for some friends who will arrive the Thursday after Easter and was surprised to be able to get everything for a party of 9!

I suggest you take advantage of the Extra Magic Hours in the parks if you are a resort guest. If a park opens at 7 or 8am it is wise to go ahead and be up early and get there so you are in the door by that time. In that one hour you will be amazed at how much you will be able to do as well as get Fast Passes for later in the morning. By lunch you will have done quite a bit and can then stop for a bite in the park or head back to the resort for some lunch and nap time in the afternoon. The night time Extra Magic Hours will be just as good but it is harder on the younger children to stay up that late. With naps it is possible but you will have to see.

Make sure you have some advanced dining reservations for each day. I suggest one table service meal daily as it gets everyone to slow down and relax for a meal. Study the park maps so you have an idea where everything is located and have a plan. Know what attractions use Fast Passes and understand how that works. Try not to bounce back and forth across a park but instead do as much as possible that is close together.

With your planning you should be fine and still be able to enjoy a great Disney vacation!
