When making dining reservations, do I include my 2-yr-old in the headcount? We are 6 adults + 1 toddler & reserving for 7 always triggers a message that we may be seated at 2 tables - but can't they just add a highchair to the table for 6?

Hi Chandra!  Having traveled for years with my own children and now my grandchildren I have had this same issue when making reservations. When they were infants I sometimes wouldn't include them but once they reached the age of two I did. The reason is that many tables need the extra space if you pull up  a highchair or booster chair and it really does affect where you sit in a restaurant.  We were rarely seated at different tables due to this so I would keep your reservations and talk with the person at check-in that you do wish to be at one and will be glad to squeeze if necessary. This might take a few more minutes while waiting for a table but they will try to make it happen.

If you are only able to get a reservation for six then go with that and show up and explain the situation. The restaurants really do try to accommodate the guests whenever they can so don't give up!
