Hi, we are going to Magic Kingdom, the whole family 12 peoples, we are Brazilian and my grandmother (age 86) dont speak english. we are affraid to lost her, what kind of thing should we do for this dont happen and if happen ? tks

    Hello Elisa!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I am thrilled to answer a question from a fellow Brazilian.

My first advice is to make an identification tag for your grandmother with information like the following: “I am Maria and I am 86-years-old. I do not speak English. Please take me to Guest Relations and contact my granddaughter Elisa at +55 (area code in Brazil) phone number and email. Hotel: Disney’s Pop Century Resort.” If you are staying at a Disney Resort hotel, have her wear her MagicBand all the time. My 84-year-old grandmother travels with us sometimes, but we don't set up a meeting point because she has mobility issues and when she is not familiar with the surroundings she forgets where to go and it causes more stress.

Teach her how to identify a Disney Cast Member wearing a name tag. She can show them the identification tag with the information in English. There are Cast Members who speak Portuguese and can also help. Tell her not to panic (this advice is for you as well). Cast Members know how to identify when someone is lost and act very fast. You will be reunited with her in no time.

Take a picture of your grandmother in the morning so you can show Cast Members. Avoid crowds, especially at night during firework shows. I suggest that each adult in your group take turns being her chaperone for a couple of hours every day so she feels safe. Take it slow, do not expect her to keep up with your pace. Plan for at least one Table-Service meal a day so she can properly rest and eat, and rent a wheelchair or ECV for mobility issues.

Thank your for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I hope this helps you plan an unforgettable visit for your family.

    Best magical wishes,
    Thiana
