We have our magic bands. I was just wondering if you know if they will be treated like electronics when you go through security at the airport or do they get activated at the resort when we check in.

So on a very recent trip we had our bands with us when we flew to Florida. Because they have metal inside, we treated them like we would a wristwatch, and put them in our bags for the TSA screening. However my guess is that because they have such a small amount in them, you are probably OK wearing them through.

And they never really get "activated". The different scanning devices around Walt Disney World (like at a restaurant checkout, or in a FastPass+ line), simply read the code on the device wirelessly. The band is already "active" when you get it in the mail.

BOTTOM LINE:I always err on the side of putting any questionable items into my bag at the TSA screening, rather than be slowed down by a check. But you are likely to be OK keeping them on.

    Have a magical vacation!
