what are magic bands and what are they for?

    Hi Kathleen,

I just returned from a trip to Walt Disney World and loved the convenience of my MagicBand. Let me share with you what a MagicBand can do.

Your MagicBand can serve as your physical theme park ticket. You do need to purchase a Disney theme park ticket, and then when it is linked to your MagicBand, you will be able to use the MagicBand gain access to the Disney theme parks, as well as use your MagicBand to access your Disney FastPass+ selections. You will want to have a My Disney Experience account to link your theme park ticket to your MagicBand.

What I explained above will work regardless of whether you are staying at a Walt Disney World resort hotel or somewhere else. If you are staying somewhere else, you will need to purchase MagicBands. You can purchase MagicBands online, or also from many Disney merchandise locations. If you are staying at a Walt Disney World resort hotel, you will receive a MagicBand included with your stay!

If you are staying at a Walt Disney World resort hotel, your MagicBand will be your key to your resort hotel room. You will also be able to link a credit card to it and use it for purchases such as dining and merchandise throughout Walt Disney World during your stay. I find the MagicBands to be really useful at a pool - I do not have to bring anything extra with me if I want a snack from the pool dining location; I can just tap my MagicBand and go!

I hope that this information is helpful for you, Kathleen. Let us know if you have any further questions!
