Hi! When we made our original reservations, the dining time defaulted to 2nd seating. Will this be too late for 3 children ages 6, 9 & 13? Will this interfere with any of the shows or the pirate party? If so how can we change this? Thanks!

    Hi, Annetria!

No worries -- in fact, I prefer the second seating for dinner aboard Disney Cruise Line. For several reasons, here's why:

    • You don't have to scramble to get back to the ship and hurry to get dressed for dinner after a day in the sun. I like being of the last ones out of the pool, too.
    • For my kids, the best part of the evening is the show (rather than dinner). Therefore, they are the most "fresh" for the show at the earlier seating, and we evaluate afterward if they want to sit through dinner with us.
    • Sometimes after a day of fun, we like to take an afternoon nap in order to stay up for the pirate deck party that evening. The earlier dinner time cuts into nap time!
    • Since we're on vacation, my kids like the options of eating room service or quick service before the show and having dessert while we enjoy our appetizers at dinner. Then, the youth club counselors usually pick them up at the entrance of the restaurants about 45 minutes into the 2nd dinner seating.

In addition, most activities and events are planned around dinner and the shows. The Pirates IN the Caribbean Party may start around 8 p.m., but the part you don't want to miss is around 10 p.m. -- fireworks at sea! I hope that gives you some ideas and encouragement about the second seating and helps to relieve any concerns.

Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation. Bon voyage!
