We love visiting Disney World, but our family has never been to Disneyland. What can you tell me about our hotel options? Our favorite resort at Disney World is the Beach Club Resort. What would you recommend at Disneyland?

    Hi, Karen!

Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question. I’m thrilled to hear you’re thinking of visiting the Happiest Place on Earth for the first time! One of the many wonderful things about the Disneyland Resort is how close the parks, hotels, and Downtown Disney District are to one another so you can conveniently hop back and forth multiple times per day.

Each of the three Disneyland Resort Hotels has its own unique benefits. Paradise Pier Hotel is usually the least expensive option and the rooms have a fun, beach-inspired décor. My son loves the beach ball pillows in the rooms! Guests of Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel can enjoy the scenic rooftop pool and California Streamin' Waterslide, which is reminiscent of a classic boardwalk rollercoaster.

Rooms at the Disneyland Hotel are quite large and include chic furnishings with a touch of Disney magic, including carved wooden headboards featuring fiber-optic fireworks for your very own in-room light and music show! There are no balconies in the rooms there, just floor-to-ceiling windows, some of which feature views of the Monorail Pool and its two waterslides themed after the classic Disneyland Park attraction. It is close to the Monorail station in the Downtown Disney District, so you can ride directly into Tomorrowland at Disneyland Park.

My personal favorite is Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa because it’s the closest to the theme parks and features a private entrance into Disney California Adventure Park. Stepping into the gorgeous Arts and Crafts-style lobby is like being transported to California in the early 1900s, with that signature touch of Disney in the meticulously-planned details. Plus, there is a fun Redwood Tree-themed water slide and pool.

I hope this helps, Karen. Please write back with more questions as you plan your pixie-dusted vacation!

    Wishing you magic,
    Courtney
