I would love to try a WDW vacation around Christmas. Thinking about going the 1st full week of December. What do they do at this time of year? Special decorations at the parks as well as their resorts? parades/shows/menus? What should be on my to do list?

Hello, Melanie. Visiting Walt Disney World during the holiday season is my favorite. In fact, I've got a trip booked for mid-December of this year. There are huge, hand-decorated Christmas trees in each resort and park and all of the trees are themed to its respective location. My favorites are the trees at Animal Kingdom and Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Along with the trees, you'll find dancing lights covering most of the buildings at Disney's Hollywood Studios, and Castle Dream Lights that light up Cinderella Castle.

One of my family's must do's is to attend Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. We love visiting all of the special characters that are brought out for the event, and yes, even a visit with Santa Claus himself! During the event you can experience attractions with almost no wait time, which is a major draw for us. Last year during Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party I was able to walk on to many attractions, and had maybe a 15 minute wait to see Anna & Elsa at Princess Fairytale Hall. We also love Mickey's Once Upon A Christmastime Parade. We will go a grab a complimentary cookie and cup of hot cocoa and sit in Frontierland to watch the holiday parade. Don't forget to visit one of the many PhotoPass photographers to snap a picture for your family Christmas card as it snows on Main Street U.S.A.

If your family loves the Jungle Cruise as much as mine does, then they will love Jingle Cruise. This classic attraction gets a holiday makeover for the season, and the skippers even spice up their usual schtick with festive humor. Don't miss it! As for dining, many restaurants will offer seasonal favorites and traditional feasts. One of our favorite places is the Liberty Tree Tavern.

I am running out of space, but if you need any more holiday ideas feel free to stop back in! Have a magical holiday vacation.
