    Jennifer from NY Asked

I love staying on Disney property! However due to my disability I need a carpet in my room. Is there a way to find out which values and moderates will still have carpet in 2020? Do not want to book a room I cannot walk in. Thank you!

Hi, Jennifer! We're so glad you stopped by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question!

The Walt Disney World Resort hotels are continuously going through a refurbishment cycle, and the current trend is to replace the carpeting in the rooms with modern wood laminate flooring, which is more durable and easier for Mousekeeping to keep clean. However, I can understand how Guests with mobility issues might prefer a room with carpet. As of the time of this writing, the only Value Resort hotels with carpet are Disney's All-Star Music Resort and Disney's All-Star Sports Resort. I checked the refurbishment schedule, and it appears that the rooms at All-Star Music are slated to get some upgrades soon (and I'm guessing they will have the wood flooring similar to the newly updated rooms at Disney's All-Star Movies Resort).  Your best bet is to book a room at Disney's All-Star Sports Resort.

In the Moderate category, my top pick would be Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort. The recently upgraded rooms still feature carpet with a tropical motif (the Pirate Rooms have wood plank patterned carpet). A big bonus to staying at this resort is the access to the Disney Skyliner Transportation, which opened to great fanfare this week! Although most of the rooms over at Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside now have wood floors, the princess-themed Royal Guest Rooms have carpeting. If you want to feel absolutely immersed in your very own fairytale, then this would be the way to go!

Two other choices to keep in mind are the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resorts, located on Cresent Lake between Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios. Both of these hotels recently underwent a refurbishment and the new rooms have a fresh, contemporary look, and... they have carpet! These hotels are also known for their "Heavenly Beds,"- the name says it all.

You may want to also consider booking an Accessible Room, Jennifer. To do this, you will select the "Accessible Rooms" checkbox when you book your vacation online. If you would prefer to book over the phone, call (407) 939-1936.  After making your reservation, I also suggest calling the Resort hotel a few months prior to your trip to make sure the carpeting is still available.

I hope this helps, Jennifer! See ya' real soon!
