Love reading your answers Joel, you crack me up! What is your opinion on the Haunted Mansion and a 5 yo. daughter. I know every kid is different, but just wanted to see what you think. Hubby and I may go on it while Grandma and Grandpa take her elsewhe

Hey, Amy! Your question made my day: (1) for the ego stroke and (2) for the memories it evoked. Check this out:

I have been in a situation suspiciously similar to the one you described. When my son was 5 years old last year, we ended up being in Disney World at the same time that half of my wife's family was, including grandma and grandpa. We met up with them on one of our first days in Magic Kingdom. Our first attraction with them was the carrousel. Second? Small world. After that? Well, grandma and grandpa said Haunted Mansion.

They hopped off the small world boat before us, hand in hand with my 5 year old. My wife and I were trepidatious and caught up with them. "He'll be fine," they said in a manner that only a grandparent could muster.

My son seemed up for it. As they proceeded into the Mansion's queue, we took video of them holding his hand and walking him into the attraction. We wanted documentation that it was the grandparents' idea that brought him into the haunted abode, slightly against our better judgement.

    He loved it.

We rode it 5 more times while we were on property.

If your daughter is up for it, then bring her along. If she balks at the idea, let the grandparents take her elsewhere (but learn from my example and do so at your own risk!)
