Love to read all your info. I haven't seen this addressed before. If a guest doesn't really need a wheelchair, are they permitted to use a walker with a seat in the parks? Also, where would it be placed after using it to go through the attraction lines?

    Hi Linda!

One of my son's has Cerebral Palsy and while he can now finally walk, he would never be able to negotiate the parks so he uses his stroller as a wheelchair. But before he could walk, we used to bring his walker in with his stroller. His walker had a seat on it so that he could fold it down and use it when he was tired. No one said anything to us about it. Guests are not permitted to bring folding chairs into the parks but you should not have any problems with walkers with seats. Here is a list of personal items that are not permitted in the parks.

If the walker will fold, you may be able to take it on some attractions like the Walt Disney World Railroad. If not, Cast Members (CMs) will hold the walker just as they do a wheelchair while you're on the attraction. If the unloading area is different, they will have it waiting for you.

Since mobility will be an issue, keep in mind that there are some attractions that board from a moving sidewalk. On some attractions with moving sidewalks, CMs are able to slow them down or stop them in order to give Guests additional time to board. Most CMs are good at recognizing needs and will ask but if they don't be sure to mention it to them. Peter Pan is not one of those attractions. They told me they can't slow it down and can't stop it so Guests must be able to board without them slowing it down.

Most queues have now been mainstreamed eliminating steps and are wide enough to accommodate ECVs and wheelchairs. For those that aren't, you will be directed to an alternate loading area. If you need any other assistance, stop by Guest Relations as you're entering a theme park and speak a Cast Member. They will be happy to assist you.

Please feel free to visit with any other questions. We're hEAR to help!

Wishing you minnie magical memories :-) Allison V.
