Would love to do the Princess 1/2 but hate that it is at the end of school vacation week. We are also home schoolers and want to do a Mom weekend but we avoid school vaca weeks! Is the weekend REALLY crowded?

Hi Shannon!  You would really love the Princess Half Marathon!  It is such a fun race, and a great "girl trip"!

I see that the Princess half is the weekend after President's Day.  The touringplans.com calendar is predicting that weekend to be a busy one.  It is predicting a 9 out of 10 on Friday, and a 10 out of 10 on Saturday.  However, if you can stick around on Sunday, the parks will be nearly deserted at a predicted 4 out of 10.

While it is nice to be at the parks with less crowds, Disney parks are always fun and there are ways to see and do a lot with minimal wait times.  You definitely want to utilize the FASTPASS system for rides with longer wait times.  You also want to make your dining reservations before you come.  You can book dining up to 180 days before your trip.  This will eliminate any wait times for meals.

Additionally, I have found that when I am there with just adults, the crowds are even less bothersome.  Without kids to keep up with, you can stroll around and take your time throughout the day.  I usually do completely different things when I am there without children.

I think you and your friends would have a great trip!  Maybe you could even have your kids come up to meet you on Sunday and spend the next week there with them.  That is just one of the advantages of home schooling...you get to travel whenever you want!
