Love the panel! We have an ADR at Mickey's Backyard BBQ for April 16th at 6:30. I'm wondering if there are any fun things to do at the Wilderness area before heading to dinner? My kids are almost 3 and 5. Thanks :)

Hi there, Ali! Thanks for dropping by to see us again at the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I always love to chat with a fellow Floridian!

This question is so near and dear to my heart. My family has stayed at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground a few times now, and one of the things I love most about it is that there's so much to do! I haven't had a chance to try Mickey's Backyard BBQ yet, but it's definitely on my to-do list.

If you're arriving at Fort Wilderness by boat, head to your right from the marina toward Pioneer Hall and you'll see a small playground where your little ones can swing, slide and climb for a while. Once they've had their fill, walk over to Pioneer Hall (you may be able stop and hula hoop for a moment if hoops are available), and then around to Tri-Circle-D Ranch. Here you can see many of the horses that pull carriages and appear in parades in the parks, and your little ones can even take a pony ride. Just be sure to check the hours of the pony rides - they usually close around 5 p.m. or so.

Then if you still have some time before the barbeque starts, you can go back to Pioneer Hall and grab a lemonade from Crockett's Tavern. Otherwise, just walk right over to the Pavilion and check in for dinner.

I hope this helps spark some ideas for your adventure in the Wilderness, Ali. Please be sure to visit us again if you have any more questions.

    Have a magical day!

Meet the Panelist: Kathy, Florida

I've lived my whole life just an hour's drive from Walt Disney World, so I've been a regular visitor for as long as I can remember. Even after all these years and so many visits, I love that there's still so much to discover! Now that I'm a mom myself, seeing my favorite place through my son's eyes has given me a whole new perspective that I enjoy sharing with other parents of young children. Learn More About Kathy
