Love your answers and read your thoughts on letting children wear items with their names on them with interest. I have the same worry about letting my DS wear the birthday button when we go for his b-day. Must the birthday buttons include the name? Thx!

Hi, Rosemary!  It's hard not to worry about something happening to our little ones with all the horror stories you hear on the news anymore!

You do not have to have your child's name put on the birthday button.  Although they only put first names on the buttons, which is a little bit better than having first and last name on there, you can ask them to just give you the button without the name, or have them just draw some Mickey Mouse ears in the spot where the name would be.

In my experience, the birthday boy will still have people wish him happy birthday while he is wearing his button.  I know myself, I always try to say happy birthday if I see someone with a button - and I don't always have a chance to see the name.

It never hurts to be cautious, and I'm sure they'll understand that if you choose to leave the name box blank on the button.  You could even bring your own Sharpie marker and let your son draw a little picture in there if you wanted to!

Have a great vacation, and happy birthday to your little one!
