Hi Lori - My husband and I are going to run our first 1/2 at the Epcot W&D in Nov. We are DVC members, home resort is SS. Do we book through DVC or RunDisney? Can we use our points? We are not experienced runners, any tips to get started training?

    Hi Shelley!

You have picked a great, first half marathon!  The Wine and Dine is my favorite runDisney race!

You can use your points for your stay.  If I were you, I would wait to see which resorts will be host resorts for that race.  The information will be on the Disney World travel page of the runDisney website.  The host resorts will have bus transportation for runners and spectators to all race weekend events.  I highly recommend choosing one of those.  The Beach Club Villas would be perfect.  Beach Club will probably be a host resort, and then you can walk back to your room after the post-race party at Epcot.  You can book it as you normally book your points stays.  If you don't want to use points, you can call 407-WDW-IRUN to book with the runner's discount.

My biggest piece of advice is to follow the runDisney trainer, Jeff Galloway's, training programs.  He uses a run/walk/run interval method that has made distance running possible for so many new runners.  You can also check out his website (www.jeffgalloway.com) for even more information and tips to avoid injuries, etc.

And most importantly, HAVE FUN!  As DVC members, I am sure you are already in love with being at Disney World.  This is just another, amazing way to see the parks that you already know and love.  You are going to have a great time!

Please let me know if I can answer any other questions for you as you prepare for your race!
