Looking for suggestions on 1st & last day activities: arriving around 3pm and will have been traveling since 2am. Last day flight isn't until 650pm which means no naps, planning late lunch at Akershus. Kids are 4&3, staying @AKL

    Hi Corie!
Planning the first leg of a Disney vacation is a thrilling experience...its my favorite part! But planning the last leg, is always a little more somber, as I know I'll be leaving the magic behind! Because you will have been traveling for quite a while, my first recommendation for you would be to take a nap! Once you've arrived at the Most Magical Place on Earth, you will have plenty of time to enjoy everything the parks have to offer, but you've got to recharge first! Make sure you know which park is offering EMH on the day you arrive and after you've napped, you can head to that park. Another suggestion would be to head to Downtown Disney! They have a nightly dance party for kids at the stage across from World of Disney which is lots of fun and great way to start your vacation!
When the sad day of departure comes, my best suggestion would be to head to your favorite park and get a last taste of the attraction which you love! We've done this on our vacations, and loved having that moment of happiness before having to head on Magical Express. If you are looking for a little relaxation, maybe a day by the pool prior to your trip home will let you wind down, and think of all the memories you've created on your vacation to Walt Disney World!
Hope this helps you plan your magical vacation!
