I am looking at staying at a Disney Resort for my daughter's 4th birthday in Feb. I am looking at the All Star Music Resort. Can anyone tell me the difference between a standard room and a preferred room? Is it worth the additional money. 2 adults 1 child

    Hi Sarah,

There is only one difference between the standard room and preferred room at the All-Star Music Resort - location!

Preferred rooms are closer to the resort's main building (Melody Hall) where the gift shop, guest services, and food court are located. They are also closer to the bus stop.

You'll find preferred rooms in Calypso Buildings 1 and 10.

Whether it's worth the money or not, depends on...
    1.  if you'll have your own vehicle. If you will, then it really shouldn't matter as it'll save you some steps being able to park by your building.
    2. If you are going during a holiday time in February (President's week) then you may want to go for the preferred room as large groups/traveling parties are usually placed to the back of the resort. Those areas get noisy.
    3. Your budget. Is it worth it to you to be closer to the resort amenities? Or would you rather save the money?

The Jazz Inn buildings are considered standard rooms and just behind the Calypso buildings. You might want to book a standard room but put in a request for the Jazz inn buildings. Requests aren't guaranteed but it would be a way to save money and still have a chance of being closer to the front of the resort.

Wishing your daughter a magical birthday!
