Overview shot of ship and sea

    Kelli from MS Asked

I am looking to sail on the Disney Fantasy with my 13 year old son. Our favorite stop is always Castaway Cay but now that he's 13 I'm wondering what the Edge-age tween/teens can do on Castaway Cay.

    Welcome aboard, Kelli!

My tween and teen have more fun sailing with Disney now than they ever did as younger children onboard the ships. And that is saying a lot since there are so many magical adventures to experience onboard for the younger set in the Oceaneer Club and Oceaneer Lab! Edge (the tween club) and Vibe (the teen club) are pretty special spots for tweens and teens, and since the counselors there are awesome at getting the kids to mix and mingle, new friendships form quickly! My teen daughter has loved getting to know new friends and then setting times to meet up with them at Castaway Cay for even more fun.

Did you know that there is a private area on Castaway Cay just for teens? Teen Hideout is just that - a hidden spot with fun games and places for teens to get away from the rest of the guests on the island and spend some time chillin' with the counselors and other teens. Be sure your son checks his Disney Cruise Line Navigator App while at Castaway Cay to find out when the Edge tweens get to "invade" the Teen Hideout. There is always a set time for that, and my daughter and son have loved when their "group" is the only group allowed in that area to play sand volleyball, participate in activities with the counselors, and just have their own private space to hang out.

If your son turns 14 prior to sailing, you also might check out the Wild Side Teen Adventure - a special Port Adventure at Castaway Cay for 14 - 17 year-olds only. It is a blast! The teens head out with their Vibe counselors for a day of snorkeling, biking, and a wild high speed boat ride. But, don't worry Mom and Dad, it's only a four hour adventure, so you can still have your teen back for some family time on the island too. Honestly, it's the best of both worlds for us! My teen daughter got to have fun with friends and experience all sorts of independent activities with them, but we also had her around for some quality time as a family as well.

Have fun planning this cruise, Kelli!
