Looking to plan a cruise for Jan 2014 with DH, DD6,DD2, DH's mom and her husband w/ medical issues. Not sure where to start. Want close or connecting rooms but not sure how to reserve. Never planned a cruise before and is an unexpected possibility:)

Connie, welcome aboard! I'm thrilled to hear you are beginning to plan your first Disney cruise! Traveling with your family and in-laws will be easy on Disney Cruise Line.

You mentioned that he has medical issues. If mobility is a problem and you're bringing a wheelchair, you will be happy to know that Disney Cruise Line has done a magnificent job making the ship very accessible for all guests. Depending on what medical issues he has, you might consider calling Disney Cruise Line to confirm accommodations they can make for him. They are very helpful and will be able to give you detailed information regarding his exact situation.

To begin with, I'd suggest browsing the "Find a Cruise" section of Disney Cruise Line's website. Choose a time of year, then an an area where you'd like to sail. You'll see which ships will be in that area at that time. You can browse the activities, amenities and staterooms on each ship. Give Disney Cruise Line a call when you are ready to book, and they can help you find adjoining rooms that are in your price range.

All four of Disney's ships offer some adjoining rooms. The Magic and Wonder have a limited amount, but the Dream and Fantasy offer many more adjoining room options.

We like the adjoining verandah staterooms. In fact, we sailed with my husband, children and my parents on the Dream, and had adjoining verandah staterooms. The kids though it was great that not only did the rooms have a door connecting them, but our room steward was also able to fold back the wall separating our verandah from theirs to make one longer verandah. That was wonderful! Two ways to go back and forth between our rooms and a nice large outdoor space.

As you continue to plan, Connie, please come back and let me know what other questions you might have. I'm always happy to help!
