Looking for helpful hints as to what NOT to forget when planning this crazy trip to Disney! It's our first time bringing our children, ages 9 and 10. It will be our son's bday, he has nut allergies, want to make a fun celebration, also.

    Hi Susan,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! It is officially happy dance time. We have to celebrate your kids' first trip to the Walt Disney World Resort! Packing is still not my friend. Nonetheless, I have learned a few lessons over the years. Here is my essentials list:

    • At least one small backpack and one medium-sized backpack. You can choose to take both or one to the parks.
    • Rain ponchos - very helpful in unpredictable Florida weather
    • An umbrella - unless you typically do not use one
    • Lightweight sweaters - some of the restaurants can feel like the Arctic
    • Tennis shoes - you will walk, A LOT
    • Sunscreen - we reapply in the parks
    • Princess or knight attire, especially if dining with royalty at Cinderella's Royal Table
    • Chewing gum - it is not sold at the Walt Disney World Resort nor have we ever seen it sold at the Orlando International Airport. We need it for the plane ride!
    • Over-the-counter and prescription medications - including anti-itch creams, medicine for upset tummies and a fever reducer
    • Snacks - we always bring some of our own snacks; doing so might be helpful for you since your son has nut allergies
    • Swimsuit covers - handy for leaving the pool and going to grab a quite bite to eat at the resort
    • Flip Flops
    • Water bottles
