Looking to cruise in 2016. Are magic portholes available on all of the cruises? We will be traveling with a 2 and 9 year old, so when school is out. What is the best cruise excluding Alaska and Hawaii, we live in AK and visit HI regularly.

    Ahoy, Megan!

With the recent release of the second half of 2016 itineraries, you are smart to be planning ahead! Some things to know about the Disney Cruise Line ships:

The Disney Magic and Disney Wonder are the first two ships. They are smaller and older than the others, but have had recent (or are scheduled for) renovations and upgrades. These two ships do not have the Magical Portholes in their inside staterooms.
The Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy are the more recent ships, launched in 2011 and 2012. They are larger by about 40% and all of the inside staterooms have Magical Portholes.
The Disney Wonder is the ship that has typically done the Alaska and Hawaii itineraries.
The Disney Fantasy only sails on 7-Night Eastern or Western Caribbean cruises out of Port Canaveral, Florida.

Our family has cruised both the Eastern and Western Caribbean Itineraries, as well as 3, 4, & 5-Night Bahamian sailings. The most memorable was the Western Caribbean, with Grand Cayman. My daughters loved visiting Stingray Sandbar and interacting with the stingrays in the ocean. I generally recommend a 7-Night itinerary over a shorter one, especially considering how far you will be traveling to get to the cruise!

You might also want to consider trying a vacation to Walt Disney World, followed by a relaxing cruise.

I hope this helps with your planning your voyage on a Disney Cruise Line ship! Please visit us often to read up on cruising plus ask your own questions.

    Happy Cruising, Tracy V.

“If you can dream it, you can do it” just about sums up my life. I am a mother of two amazing girls and wife to a fantastic man, all of whom support my passion for all things Disney. I am a thrill seeker, and have been fortunate enough to go parasailing high above the Disney Fantasy, zip-lining in St. Lucia, and swimming with stingrays in Grand Cayman – all while sailing the seas with Disney Cruise Line. I would love to help you plan your Disney Cruise Line vacation! Learn More About Tracy
