Family dining outside

Hi, we are looking to bring a group of at least 8 to Disney in April. Is outside food allowed inside the Disney Parks? $15-$20 per meal per person could prevent us from being able to go.

Hi Tabitha, welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

Bringing food to the Theme Parks is a great idea to save during a Walt Disney World Resort vacation, and you are allowed to do so if you take a few rules into consideration, like avoiding alcoholic beverages and glass containers.

To make it more comfortable, my husband and I rent lockers to keep the food fresh and move freely. We pack delicate items like sandwiches and fruit into a small collapsible cooler and store it on the locker until it's meal time. We've done it with tuna sandwiches, bagels, apples and bananas and they were all great from dawn to dusk!

To make sure we don't go hungry between meals, we also carry lighter items like trail mix containers, granola bars and cookies at all times.

Another great tip to keep the family on the budget is to ask for cups of water at the Quick Service locations, as they will be provided to you at no cost. I'd also advise you to be on the lookout for large portions at those restaurants, like the Fajita Platter at Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe, that can easily feed two after a strategic stop by the toppings bar, or the Ribs, Chicken and Pulled Pork Sample at the Flame Tree Barbecue. They are both yummy and shareable!

Please, let the Disney Parks Moms Panel help you make your April dreams will come true, Tabitha. We'd love to help with specific saving tips for each Theme Park, or to guide you through the awesome rooms available at the Disney Value Hotels. Shall we do it?

May the magic be with you,

    Julie
